A Letter from the Dragonforge to Our Loyal Friends

It is with our deepest regrets that we must announce that the Dragonforge must close its doors temporarily in UP Town Center from now until we reopen on October 16, 2021.

Our online sales will remain open, and you can message us on Facebook or check out our website for the time being.

We are doing this so we can cut down on some costs, keep paying our employees during the pandemic, recuperate from the damage the pandemic has done, and figure out a way to rise out of this better and stronger.

It has been an uphill battle for all of us in the pandemic, and unfortunately, even the Forge has to make hard decisions for the sake of its future. We will return, in one form or another, and do our best to serve the geek community as best as we can. And we hope the welcome is as warm as it was the first time.

How You Can Help Us

You can help us in your own little ways. Buy that set of dice you’ve been hoping for. Talk to us about an army you want to start. Share or retweet some of our blog posts.

We also have some plans in place to help you feel our presence, even though we are moving to the digital space for now. Stay tuned to our social media accounts for our future promos and events.

You can also talk to your geek friends about how there is a little hobby shop in Katipunan that gave geeks of all shapes, sizes, creeds, and colors a place to play—and how this little shop is working very hard to keep providing a table to every tabletop player.

Running this business has never been easy, but it is always the players and the community that sprung up around us that makes it all worth it. We lovingly ask that our community support us again, in even the littlest ways that it can.

We are thankful for everyone’s support, for hanging out with us, for playing with us, for enriching this endeavor for us. We hope you will continue to do so.

With all our love,

The Dragonforge

What We Know So Far about the Upcoming Chris Pine D&D Film

The globally famous tabletop roleplaying game Dungeons and Dragons is moving to the big screen once again. The first time fans got a taste of the game being given the Hollywood treatment was in 2000 and, unfortunately, it left a lot to be desired and racked up a measly 10% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Hopefully this second time’s the charm, and it’s looking like the Dungeons and Dragons movie executives are hoping for that as well, as they’ve equipped this highly anticipated film with a star-studded cast.

Warhammer 40k Lore, Part 1: The God-Emperor of Mankind

Warhammer 40k has forever changed the face of wargaming and tabletop gaming in general. Over the course of 34 years, the game has built up an immense and loyal following. Games Workshop, the proverbial progenitors of this amazing hobby, has continued to add more and more to the game. Now, there are countless ways to build an army, dozens upon dozens of books published about the lore, and multitudes upon multitudes of players who make sure to keep themselves updated about every new release.

One aspect without which the game would not be the same is its rich and expansive lore. Some players are attracted by the aspect of painting and creating their own armies, others by the challenging mechanics and strategies, and many by the meticulously crafted lore.

As homage to the game, this article will start at the beginning: the God-Emperor of Mankind. The canon may or may have not changed since this article was written, and there may be spoilers in this article that you want to avoid.

Tabletop RPG History: Why D&D 4e Was So Controversial

There is no denying the current success of Dungeons and Dragons. The tabletop RPG now enjoys a fairly comfortable spot in the mainstream following the success of 5th Edition. The hobby, which used to be the subject of japes and jests, is now a common Friday night activity, whether online or in person.

However, the iconic status of Dungeons and Dragons was not without its ups and downs. Before the successful release of 5th Edition, there was the highly controversial 4th Edition. Many did not appreciate the new mechanics introduced into the game, while others swear by them to this day.

While 5E is not without its share of criticisms, it has exceeded the legacy of 4th Edition by leaps and bounds, with its predecessor left largely in obscurity. This article will dive into the complex legacy of Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition.

Magic: The Gathering Lore, Part 2 – Freyalise’s Sacrifice

Continuing on with our series on Magic: the Gathering lore, we’re going to get into some specifics of Planeswalker lore. In this article, we will focus solely on the life of Planeswalker Freyalise—one of the Planeswalkers involved in the Great Mending.

Freyalise was a half-elven Planeswalker centered in green mana and born in Terisiare, Dominaria. She was known for wearing an eye patch, having short brown hair, and for her preference of floating just a little above the ground rather than standing on it.
